LAWRENCE CARDON (1943–2022)
A Tribute to “LARRY CARDON”
Larry Cardon represented Decker Law clients for more than forty years, from 1976 until he retired in February 2019. He took his degree at the University of Virginia and his law degree at the University of Richmond, and was admitted in 1974. He worked in personal injury, criminal defense and traffic defense, and spent much of that time in the Virginia Beach General District, Circuit, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts, defending people charged with everything from speeding to assault and battery, drug offenses and homicide.
Away from the courtroom he was a weightlifter of real renown — an American and world record holder in the bench press who set thirteen world records over his career. His life ran to the same scale: he met Muhammad Ali, traveled widely, and once wrestled Pete Decker, Jr., the firm’s founder, which tells you as much about the firm in those years as it does about Larry.
He retired in February 2019 and died in 2022. The energy is what people here remember.
“When the case is over, it’s not over. I’m still there for them and their family. I’ll always be there for them and their family. And for years to come.”
